I was raised on a farm in Oklahoma. I helped cook for harvest hands for all of my life. My mother tried to teach me to cook, but I wanted to go out and spend time with my dad. I learned anyway.

When I turned 16, of course I wanted a car. I told dad that I would bake him homemade bread every Saturday to pay for a car. Deal was made. The first Saturday the first two loaves of bread came out of the oven. They smelled so good. They tasted just as good. But I just had to ask. "Can each loaf of bread be worth $500. each?" My dad laughed. But I was held to my deal for at least another month.
